USA: A shocking accident with a gravedigger while digging a grave
New York: An American gravedigger dug a grave for a man who died and buried himself in it.
A 42-year-old gravedigger was digging a grave in Long Island when the grave suddenly collapsed on him, burying him under 7 feet of rubble.
News reports say a gravedigger working on Long Island had a fatal accident, and was buried in the same grave he was digging for another man.
The incident happened Thursday when Rodwin Eliak, 42, was working on a grave at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Siani, Suffolk County police said in a press release.
Fellow workers reportedly tried to evacuate Alikak, a resident of Quorum, Suffolk County, but he was buried seven feet below, so it took a long time to evacuate.
Doctors at the local medical center examined Aliakak on the spot after he was taken out and pronounced him dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA) has launched an investigation into the incident after receiving a report, but authorities have not released further details.
The Washington Memorial Park Cemetery has been used for burial for more than half a century, according to the department’s website.
