Despite the lack of evidence, an Israeli court found the aid worker guilty
Occupied Jerusalem: Despite a lack of evidence in a high-profile case, an Israeli court has convicted a Gaza aid worker of financing Hamas.
According to a report in The Guardian, the American charity World Vision has rejected the decision of the Israeli court. Mohammed al-Halabi, the former head of the NGO’s Gaza office, was accused in 2016 of transferring tens of millions of dollars to Hamas inside Gaza by Israel’s Shin Bet security service.
On the other hand, Muhammad al-Halabi and World Vision have denied any wrongdoing. More than 160 court sessions and six years later, a district court in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba has convicted Mohammed al-Halabi of all but one of the terrorism charges.
These charges include membership in a terrorist organization, financing terrorist activities, and passing information to the enemy. Independent auditors and the Australian government have found no evidence of wrongdoing or money laundering since Mohammed al-Jalabi’s arrest.
